The Different Types of Printed Circuit Boards

Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) come in different types, including Single Layer PCBs, Double Layer PCBs, Multi-Layer PCBs, Flexible PCBs, Rigid-Flex PCBs, High Frequency PCBs, Aluminum Backed PCBs, Heavy Copper PCBs, Halogen Free PCBs and High TG PCBs.

Single Layer PCBs have one layer of base material or substrate, while Double Layer PCBs have two layers of base material with a thin layer of conductive substrate on both sides. Multi-Layer PCBs have more than two layers of base material. Flexible PCBs are designed to be flexible and can be bent or twisted. Rigid-Flex PCBs are a combination of flexible and rigid PCBs. High Frequency PCBs are designed to work at high frequencies. Aluminum Backed PCBs have a layer of aluminum on the back. Heavy Copper PCBs have thicker copper layers. Halogen Free PCBs are free of halogens. High TG PCBs are designed to withstand high temperatures.
